Wilamina Shakespeare Learns to Write
Wila's Song on the Hydrologic Cycle

When I'm in the sudsy bathtub

giving myself a rub a dub dub

singing along to myself as I play

day after day after day after day

By the time I get down to my eyes ears and nose

I begin to wonder where that water goes

as I'm scrubbing away all down to my toes

where does that water take it, who knows?

And now that the water has helped me get clean

who'll be the water's washing machine?

when it slides down the drain it does not say goodbye now

it goes in a cycle, I've never asked just how?

And before it meets up with me again

don't ever say never, you'll be wondering when

all of a sudden, there's a drop on my nose

from a rain cloud above - that's the way that it goes

Or when I'm so thirsty I drink from the sink

where did it come from, just stop and think

not just from the rivers and glaciers you know

it comes from the oceans and ponds that we row in -

Around and around in an interesting cycle

where as much as we try to contain it, a dyke'll

be a great place for the water to change

from a liquid to gas then to liquid again

Around and around in an interesting cycle

where as much as we try to explain it, a hike'll

show you how both trees and plants recycle

this liquid to solid to form an icicle

Around and around they call it osmosis

without it the earth would be in a psychosis

osmosis is needed to keep water clean

put it back where it came from and to stop it from being

The mess that we make when we take it and use it

it's so hard when we're cleaning not to abuse it

So give it some thought when you drop each drop

down the drain don't let too much water get by you again!

We've got to be ware of the toxins from factories

that flush poisons and hurt our resources - the facts please!

the flow of the water from rain cloud to flora

the flow to the fauna and all you adore – a

Flow of the water from puddle to sky

The flow of the water to both you and I

In order to keep planet earth the great place it is

not just for you but for all she embraces

the zebra, the mangrove, the bird and the bee

The mouse and the mammoth, look around and you'll see

This planet is falling apart at the seams

we've got to do something, yes us human beings!

For every tomorrow, we have today

just filled with the chances to shout out and say...

Save precious water, recycle and reduce use!
